Milling is a cutting process where the tool—the **milling cutter**—performs a rotary main movement, while the feeding movements can be either rotary or linear. In most machining processes (such as turning, drilling, etc.), the feeding direction is perpendicular to the cutting direction. In milling, however, the orientation of the cutting direction relative to the feeding direction continuously changes.
